Os Muse são o principal cabeça-de-cartaz do primeiro dia do Rock in Rio Lisboa 2022, levando ao Parque da Bela Vista um concerto que deverá ser constituído por alguns dos seus melhores êxitos e algumas músicas do futuro álbum.
Esta é a quarta vez que os Muse pisarão o palco do Rock in Rio Lisboa, depois de um concerto esgotado na edição de 2008 e duas apresentações nas edições de 2010 e 2018 – a última edição do festival antes da pandemia. Mas a história de amor entre os Muse e o público português é mais antiga que isso, remetendo a agosto de 2000 – ano em que tocaram pela primeira vez no país.
Conhecidos por hits como “Time is Running Out”, “Plug in Baby”, “Knights of Cydonia” e “Madness”, entre muitos outros, a banda britânica, vencedora de múltiplos GRAMMY, continua a conquistar o mundo e, amanhã vão apresentar-se no Parque Bela Vista com um espetáculo que se antevê arrebatador. O público pode esperar um concerto cheio de energia e uma set list que deverá incluir os seus hits, além de músicas de seu próximo álbum, Will of the People, produzido pelos membros da banda e que será lançado no próximo dia 26 deAgosto,através da Warner Records.
Will Of The People foi produzido pelos própriosMuse. Entre os principais colaboradores que participaram neste novo projecto, inclui-se a mistura de oito faixas pelo vencedor de vários Grammy, Serban Ghenea, assim como a mistura de Dan Lancaster, em “Won’t Stand Down”, e a mistura adicional de Aleks von Korff,em “Kill Or Be Killed”.
Sobre o novo disco, o vocalista dos Muse, Matt Bellamy,refere: “Will Of The Peoplewas created in Los Angeles and London and is influenced by the increasing uncertainty and instability in the world. A pandemic, new wars in Europe, massive protests & riots, an attempted insurrection, Western democracy wavering, rising authoritarianism, wildfires and natural disasters and the destabilization of the global order all informed Will Of The People. It has been a worrying and scary time for all of us as the Western empire and the natural world, which have cradled us for so long are genuinely threatened. This album is a personal navigation through those fears and preparation for what comes next.”
Sobre o novo single “Compliance”, que a banda também aproveitou para revelar hoje, Bellamy acrescenta: “‘Compliance’ is about submission to authoritarian rules and reassuring untruths to be accepted to an in-group. Gangs, governments, demagogues, social media algorithms & religions seduce us during times of vulnerability, creating arbitrary rules and distorted ideas for us to comply with. They sell us comforting myths, telling us only they can explain reality while simultaneously diminishing our freedom, autonomy and independent thought. We are not just coerced, we are herded, frightened and corralled to produce a daily ‘2 minutes of hate’ against an out-group of their choosing and to turn a blind eye to our own internal voice of reason & compassion. They just need our Compliance.”
