Depois de muitos rumores, Ben Affleck num comunicado oficial enviado ao site Variety confirmou que desistiu de ser o realizador do futuro filme a solo sobre Batman (“The Batman”), dizendo que “não consigo realizar os dois trabalhos (realizador e actor principal) no nível que eles exigem.”
Portanto desta forma, Ben Affleck continuará a ser o actor que interpretará o Cavaleiro das Trevas e um dos produtores da película. E irá procurar agora, em conjunto com o estúdio Warner Bros., um realizador para o filme.
Ben Affleck já terá terminado de filmar as suas cenas como Batman para o “Justice League” que terá lançamento em Portugal a dia 16 de Novembro, e iria iniciar a preparação para o “The Batman”
Fontes referem, após a divulgação deste comunicado, no entanto que esta decisão não tem relação directa com o falhanço de “Live By Night” (que pode ler aqui a nossa análise ao filme) tanto ao nível do Box Office como da crítica.

It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.
Warner Bros. fully supports Ben Affleck’s decision and remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life.”
